Pitch 2008 will raise team funds, assist Ozark Komen for the Cure, encourage girls in sports as a positive life choice and support other interests related to girls and women. Since creating and presenting the first Pitch for the Cure in 2006, we've raised $25,000.00 for Susan. G. Komen for the Cure. Join us in meeting our goal and have a great time...plus see some of the best competition around!! Our event donates 20% of all profits plus some of our weekend activities bring in fundraising dollars that are donated 100% to Komen. We also "challenge" teams to bring a Team Challenge Donation. Awards are given to the highest raising teams. These donations are 100% tax deductible and help us reach our donation goal for Komen. Even in 2007, with a 9 HOUR RAIN DELAY, we were able to complete all our games, take care of everyone and make a donation for $15,000!! First place teams in each bracket will receive matching team helmets from Schutt Sports. For 2008 these helmets are Schutt's new AIR-3 batting helmets. Teams have a choice of regular or ponytail versions in their stock 1 or 2 color paint finishes. (See page 4 of the online PDF edition of the Schutt Sports 2008 Catalog: http://schuttsports.com/userdocs/catalogs/2008_Spring_Catalog.pdf ) Every player receives a Schutt back-sack filled with sponsor donations and gifts! These are small text only notes that they can send to each other, to the team, to the coach, parents, other teams, etc. Parents, friends and grandparents can also purchase them for your team to wish them luck. These notes will appear throughout the event book. These are only $10.00 per note which includes up to 100 characters. You can find more details and the form to print and take to your team on our Advertise page: www.pitchforthecure.org/Advertise.html We also invite you or any of your team to honor your loved ones that have battled breast cancer during a candle lighting ceremony that will take place on Saturday night of the tournament. This ceremony takes place near sunset on Saturday evening and is always a special highlight of our event! For a $5.00 contribution, we will light a pink votive candle (in a clear glass holder) and announce the name of each honoree. Each person will be listed in the program (if received by print date) plus listed on our website. This will be for anyone that has battled breast cancer...whether they are currently fighting it, surviving the disease or lost their battle. When the ceremony is over, we'll ask those that are present to carry a candle with them. Here is a link to the form: http://pitchforthecure.org/2008Tributeform.pdf New for this year, is recognizing breast cancer survivors that are present at our event. We'll tag them so that they can be honored all weekend and then ask them to join for a photo at the Tribute Ceremony. Please enter soon and get all your forms in. Space is limited and we don't want you to miss a minute of it! Gina Bartholomew Team Recruiting, Pitch for the Cure 2008Teams@pitchforthecure.org www.pitchforthecure.org
