The Winfield CLASSiC Girls Fastpitch Softball Tournament, an USSSA sanctioned recreation-caliber team (Class C) tournament, is in its eleventh year. This tournament is held July 5 through July 6, 2008. Two facilities are used to host this tournament, both within 10 minutes of Westminster, MD.
The tournament features a 3 game guarantee, team and individual awards for 1st and 2nd place , fabulous playing fields and facilities and concessions. Age groups will be 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16/18U (combined). Cost of the tournament is $360 and all teams must be USSSA registered, send their USSSA Team Roster and proof of insurance to the USSSA Maryland State Youth Office one week prior to the tournament (See www.usssa1.com).
All team acceptance into the tournament is subject to review by the tournament director and the USSSA State Youth Director.
This tournament has had incredible success in participation. The tournament has grown incredibly the last two years as participation reached a high of 53 teams. Teams have come from New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, District of Columbia, and Maryland.
The tournament is hosted by the Maryland STARS Girls Fastpitch Softball Tournament Team Program in conjunction with the Carroll County Sports Complex .
The facilities, Mayeski Park (directions) (4 fields, 2 with lights) and the Carroll County Sports Complex (directions) (5 fields, 3 with lights), are two of the best in Maryland and the surrounding region. The fields are well maintained before and during the tournament. Each site has its own concession stand with varied menu items. The Carroll County Sports Complex has indoor restrooms. Both sites are near restaurants, motels/hotels, and malls while still providing a relaxing country atmosphere.
Allstar Helmets is providing helmet airbrushing services.
All teams must be USSSA registered and carry liability insurance of $2M. To register your team with USSSA, please go to the USSSA Maryland Web Site and following the instructions about registering and insuring your team. Be aware that USSSA Registration may take a couple of weeks and no team will be allowed to play if they are not properly registered and insured prior the tournament. Registration for the tournament is on a first paid basis.
No college players are allowed in USSSA Rec-Level tournaments.
All tournament information (rules, schedules, code of conduct, directions, motels/hotels, results, etc.) will be distributed/available at the Maryland STARS web site and/or emailed to each team.
Your team must have a point of contact who reads email daily and has access to the internet.
