This weekend - July 29-31 - is for teams at 8u, 10u, 12u. The 14u age group play their World Series the previous weekend July 22-24 and the older age groups 16u, 18u,18+ play their World Series - July 15-17. In 2015 we had over 170 teams at 8u, 10u, and 12u ( with over 100 teams at 12u) at the largest complex in the United States - Berliner Park with 31 fields, and we plan to do the same this year. And this year there will be an optional instructional clinic on Thursday morning taught entirely by college softball players which should make it even more enjoyable for the girls. Are you tired of wondering all summer if you'll earn a World Series bid or if you know the right people? And then if you get a bid, you have to pay an exorbitant fee to enter (or an exorbitant admission charge) for a minimum number of games and play 1 game a day for 3 days while those hotel bills mount up? Well, so was I. We use a format where each team will play a minimum of 5 games in 3 days.And the coach can bat up to the entire lineup if they choose, and there is free substitution in the field in both pool and bracket play.This will ensure that every girl on the team will enjoy the tournament. After pool play each pool will be divided in the top half and bottom half and they will each face the like finishers from the other pools - and they will not meet. There will be medals and trophies for each half. That way even if the team did not do well in pool play they will have a chance to win their bracket - no more of the first team in a pool facing the last place finisher of another pool ! And you don't have to worry about qualifying as the only condition is that you finish in the top 8 of any tournament you were in this year or last year (ie - no rec. teams). This way everyone - players, coaches, parents, and fans - can make definite plans in advance. Also, no admission fee is charged to your fans..... (the city of Columbus does collect a $5 per day parking fee.) We will have the same amenities you'd expect at a World Series - 1. Opening ceremonies 2. Parade of teams 3. Skills competitions-- e.g. home run Derby, fastest pitcher, fastest touch them all, around the horn, outfield accuracy, etc. 4. Most Valuable Team awards 5. Team Spirit awards on YouTube 6. Gift swap 7. Pin trading 8. Programs. And to top it off we have an in-house fundraising opportunity for those teams who wish to take advantage of it to raise money for this extra special tournament. All this is available for $525 ($425 for 8u) for a 5 game guarantee. So we invite all teams to come and face different teams from different sanctioning bodies, and have the girls enjoy a fun end of the season tournament. |
